How much does it cost at the vet for a Chihuahua for typical dog shots and ect?

Hey guys! I’m getting a Pekihuahua (Pekingese Chihuahua mix) in a couple of weeks. When I get him, he’ll be 9 weeks old. I’ve had a dog before and dog sat this exact breed before, so know how dogs are. But my main question is: How much does it cost? That’s including food, supplies AND vet bills (shots) Can someone give an estimate for the first year?

Shots are not based on breed. Every dog needs the same shots. It’s like children getting their booster shots. If you can’t afford all of the shots at once then tell the vet what you can afford this visit and then make her another appt for the future when you can get her the remainder of her shots.

These little dogs don’t eat much. I’d say good food will run you about $20. That cost is when she goes on dry food. While she’s a puppy I think canned food is the best. She’ll prob. eat a helf a can a day and it cost $1 per can. Gradually mix in dry puppy food when she gets to be about 2 mo old and wean her off of the wet food.

Unless she gets sick or injured I can’t think of any other expenses. Well you’ll need to get her ‘fixed’ too. That costs a couple of hundred dollars, unless you can get the people you’re getting her from to do it., which is quite common. Being that she’s 8 weeks old she’s probably had all the shots she’s going to need until she’s about 6 mo old.

Call the vet and ask them what it costs per yr to own a puppy.
